How to Switch from Linktree to Linkero (Step-by-Step)

Switching from Linktree to Linkero takes about 15 minutes. You won't lose followers, you won't break anything, and you don't need any technical skills. After Linktree raised prices by up to 67% in late 2025, plenty of creators are making this exact move.

Here's every step, start to finish.

What You'll Need

Before you start, have these ready:

  • Your Linktree account open in a browser tab
  • A list of your current links (or just have your Linktree page open for reference)
  • 15 minutes of uninterrupted time

That's it. Linkero is free to try, no credit card required.

Step 1: Write Down Your Linktree Links

Linktree doesn't offer a link export feature. You can download analytics data as a CSV, but there's no "export my links" button. So this part is manual.

Open your Linktree dashboard and note down:

  • Every active link (title and URL)
  • The order they appear in
  • Any highlighted or pinned links
  • Any thumbnails, icons, or images attached to links
  • Social profile links in your header/footer

Quick tip: Take a screenshot of your live Linktree page. You'll want a visual reference when rebuilding in Linkero, especially if you've customized colors, fonts, or link styles.

If you only have 5–10 links, copying them into a note takes two minutes. If you have 30+, a spreadsheet helps keep things organized.

Step 2: Create Your Linkero Account

Head to linke.ro and sign up. The process takes under a minute:

  1. Click Start now
  2. Enter your email and create a password
  3. Choose a username (try to match your Linktree handle if it's available)

After picking your username, you'll go through a quick onboarding step to set up your page. You can complete it or skip it to jump straight into the editor.

Step 3: Rebuild Your Page in Linkero

This is where you'll spend most of your 15 minutes. Linkero uses a drag-and-drop block editor, so you're not limited to a simple link list, but you can absolutely keep things simple if that's what you want.

Recreating Your Links

For each link from your Linktree:

  1. Click Add block in the Linkero editor
  2. Choose Button (the closest equivalent to a Linktree link)
  3. Enter your link title and URL
  4. Drag blocks to reorder them, matching your original layout or improving it

Going Beyond Links

Linkero supports content blocks that Linktree doesn't offer on its free or Starter plans:

  • Social profiles: Add icons that link to your Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, X, and more
  • Embeds: YouTube videos, Spotify tracks, SoundCloud, and other media
  • Text blocks: Add a bio, description, or announcement
  • Image and carousel blocks: Feature portfolio work, products, or photos
  • Forms: Collect emails or contact info directly on your page
  • Testimonials: Display social proof from clients or fans

Start with your essential links, then add extras once the basics are in place.

Styling Your Page

Match your Linktree's look or start fresh:

  • Choose a built-in theme or customize colors manually
  • Set your background: solid color, gradient, or image
  • Pick fonts that match your brand
  • Style individual blocks with different colors, borders, and spacing

All of these are available on every Linkero plan. Linktree locks custom themes behind the Starter plan ($8/month) and advanced styling behind Pro ($15/month).

Step 4: Connect a Custom Domain (Optional)

If you want your bio link to live on your own domain (like links.yourbrand.com) instead of linke.ro/username, Linkero supports custom domains on the Pro plan.

Here's how to set it up:

  1. In your Linkero dashboard, go to your page settings
  2. Enter your custom domain or subdomain
  3. At your domain registrar (GoDaddy, Namecheap, Cloudflare, etc.), add the DNS records Linkero provides (typically a CNAME record)
  4. Wait for DNS propagation (usually 5–30 minutes, occasionally up to 48 hours)

Why this matters: Your domain is yours. If you ever switch tools again, you just repoint the DNS, and every bio link across your social profiles stays the same. No broken links, no lost traffic.

Linktree doesn't offer custom domains on any plan, so your page stays on a linktr.ee URL no matter what you pay. Linkero includes custom domains on the Pro plan, so your bio link can live on a domain you actually own.

Step 5: Update Your Bio Links

This is the only step where order matters. Update every platform where your Linktree URL appears:

  1. Instagram: Settings → Edit Profile → Website/Links
  2. TikTok: Profile → Edit Profile → Website
  3. X (Twitter): Profile → Edit Profile → Website
  4. YouTube: Channel → Customize → Basic Info → Links
  5. LinkedIn: Profile → Contact Info → Website
  6. Facebook: Page Settings → About → Website
  7. Pinterest: Settings → Edit Profile → Website
  8. Email signature: Update in your email client
  9. Any other platform where your Linktree URL appears

Do them all in one sitting. It takes 5 minutes and prevents the annoying "oh wait, I forgot Threads" moment three weeks later.

Your new URL is either linke.ro/yourusername or your custom domain if you set one up in Step 4.

Step 6: What About Your Old Linktree URL?

Your linktr.ee/username URL keeps working as long as your Linktree account exists. You don't need to rush to delete anything.

Recommended approach:

  1. Leave your Linktree account active for 2–4 weeks after switching. Any straggler traffic hitting your old URL still sees your links.
  2. Cancel your paid subscription first if you're on one, go to Settings → Billing → Cancel. The page stays live; you just stop paying.
  3. After 2–4 weeks, once you've confirmed all your bio links are updated and traffic is flowing to Linkero, you can delete your Linktree account if you want. Or just leave it. There's no cost to keeping a free Linktree page sitting there.

If you had a custom domain on Linktree, update the DNS records to point to Linkero instead. Your domain keeps working, just with a new destination.

Do I Lose Traffic When I Switch?

No. If you update your bio links (Step 5), your traffic follows you immediately. The only scenario where you'd "lose" traffic is if someone has your old Linktree URL bookmarked or saved somewhere you can't update (like a printed flyer or an old podcast episode's show notes).

Even then, your Linktree page stays live during the transition period. And bookmarked bio links are rare. Most traffic comes from social profile clicks, which you've already updated.

If you had SEO traffic hitting your Linktree page directly from Google: that traffic was going to Linktree's domain, not yours. With Linkero on a custom domain, you're building SEO equity on a domain you actually own.

FAQ

How do I transfer my Linktree links to another platform?

Manually. Linktree has no link export feature. You can export analytics data as a CSV, but not your actual links and page structure. Open your Linktree dashboard, note down each link's title and URL, then recreate them in your new tool. With Linkero, this takes about 10 minutes for a typical page with 5–15 links.

Can I export my Linktree data?

You can export analytics (views, clicks) as a CSV from the Insights tab. But your links, page design, styling, and structure cannot be exported. You'll need to recreate your page manually in your new tool.

Will I lose followers if I switch from Linktree?

No. Your followers follow you on Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube, not on Linktree. Switching your bio link tool doesn't affect your follower count on any platform. The only thing that changes is where your bio link points.

How do I update my link in bio after switching tools?

Go to each social platform's profile settings and replace your old Linktree URL with your new Linkero URL. On Instagram: Settings → Edit Profile → Website. On TikTok: Profile → Edit Profile → Website. See Step 5 above for the full platform list.

Can I keep my Linktree URL if I switch?

Yes, your linktr.ee/username page stays live as long as your account exists. You can keep both pages running simultaneously during the transition. Cancel any paid plan to stop billing, but the free page stays active indefinitely.

How long does it take to migrate from Linktree?

About 15 minutes for a typical page with 5–15 links. That includes creating your Linkero account, adding all your links, basic styling, and updating your bio URLs across social platforms. Custom domain setup adds another 5–10 minutes.

What happens to my old Linktree links after I switch?

Nothing changes; they stay exactly where they are. Your Linktree page continues working independently. Visitors who somehow reach your old Linktree URL still see your links there. You can delete your Linktree account later if you want, but there's no rush.

Does Linkero work with TikTok?

Yes, Linkero links work in TikTok bios. One thing worth noting: Linktree is officially whitelisted by TikTok, which means TikTok's algorithm treats Linktree links with slightly more trust. Most creators report no issues with other link-in-bio tools on TikTok, but if TikTok is your primary platform and you're concerned about link trust, it's worth testing your Linkero URL before fully switching.

How to Switch from Linktree to Linkero: Quick Recap

  1. Write down your Linktree links (no export feature, it's manual)
  2. Create a free Linkero account at linke.ro
  3. Rebuild your page with the drag-and-drop editor
  4. Optionally connect a custom domain (Pro plan)
  5. Update your bio link on every social platform
  6. Leave your old Linktree page active for 2–4 weeks, then cancel

That's it. Fifteen minutes and you're done.
